It is common to arrive for an estimate and find chimneys or brick walls in very poor condition.
Here is a plaster wall that is in very bad condition. In fact, in this condition, the wall is a real “sieve”, and even with the best roofing membrane available, there will be water infiltration. The same is true for the second photograph below. Corrective measure: A visual inspection at least once per year will make it possible to see these problems. A mason or a qualified person should repair the cracks as soon as possible. This will avoid water infiltration, and more importantly, avoid further damage to the wall or chimney.
